Chapter Leadership Update

Summer 2026

The class of ’96 goes back to school in Uris Library during Cornell Reunion in June.
The Building Our Future campaign is funding important work, including Great Hall restoration.

We hope everyone is having a fun and safe summer. It was wonderful to see so many alumni back at the house in June for Cornell Reunion.

But first, we are very excited about the fall semester; we’ll have more than 30 brothers living in the house with everyone dining there. We send continued appreciation to the undergraduate leadership who are driving our effort to be the best house on the hill, as well as important contributions from our alumni, including GTPA officers and others. This will be our largest live-in occupancy in years, helped in part by a very successful spring rush in January with 24 new brothers: 23 of them freshmen.

Cornell Reunion in June was a spectacular time, with our alumni spending time at the house for our alumni receptions, as well as in Collegetown, the Creeker, the Commons, the golf course, and most everywhere around Cornell. Many brothers from the classes of ’91 and ’96 stayed at the house for Reunion, with some back in their old rooms! Kudos to these two classes for their large turn-outs, as well as the classes of ’81 and ’86. You can check out who was there in this fun Reunion photo gallery, including some after-hours activity at 230 Willard Way!

It’s not too early to plan for Cornell Homecoming in October. The Big Red football team plays Lehigh at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, and we’ll be hosting our annual Homecoming reception that day, as well as the Gamma Theta Property Association annual meeting a few days before Homecoming. Details to come on both.

We are building on our momentum with our important giving campaign: Building Our Future, Honoring Our Past. This effort is vital to ensure that our now-116-year-old chapter house continues to stand strong. Our goal is to raise $300,000 to fund a series of improvements and restoration work, including Great Hall woodwork, exterior painting, bathroom upgrades, roof and gutter replacement, and more. The campaign is off to a strong start, with $160,000 raised through July 15, 2026, with two alumni brothers committing to match dollar for dollar the first $50,000 each in giving by other alumni. You can join other alumni now by paying your dues, by making an additional Building Our Future contribution to the Gamma Theta Property Association, or by making a donation to our Fall Creek Leadership Foundation. Some work has already been completed, such as roof repair and pool-room restoration, and other work is underway, such as Great Hall woodwork, but we are dependent on additional giving to fund other projects.

Sigma Nu is looking great as over the last few years we’ve updated all the windows, installed new flooring in the Great Hall and in all bedrooms, and made other improvements. As always, the views down to the lake and beyond are spectacular, and the brothers regularly use the backyard for social activities. Check out this photo gallery to see what Sigma Nu looks like today! These photos were taken in June of this year. Thank you to all alumni for your continued support of our chapter!

Sigma Nu brothers continue to gather in Ithaca and around the country. You can check out our photo galleries from recent events to see who was there.
